Lutheran Youth Organization - Bowling for Jesus

Youth "Bowl for Jesus" to Aid ELCA World Hunger Program

Members of the ELCA Rocky Mountain Synod began a program called "Bowling for Jesus" to raise money for the ELCA World Hunger Program through their region of the Lutheran Youth Organization (LYO). Youth in Wyoming, Utah and Colorado who attend "Bowling for Jesus" events are encouraged to match their bowling fees with a donation to the program.

When disaster strikes, Lutherans are quick to bring healing and hope. "After the Floods" is a captivating five-minute video about how members of the ELCA serve as beacons of hope to communities recovering from the 2008 floods and tornadoes in the Midwest.

Relief Efforts in China Following Earthquake

Plans for relief efforts in China’s Sichuan province are set following the May 12 earthquake that left 70,000 people dead, 17,000 missing and nearly 300,000 injured. ELCA Global Mission and the Taiwan Lutheran Church gave $40,000 to the local church and devised a three-phase plan in consultation with the Luzhou Christian Church and the China Christian Council to provide temporary housing, counseling and reconstruction of damaged places of worship.
