The ELCA's accessibility award, made possible by the generous support of the ELCA Mission Investment Fund and the National Organization on Disability (partnered with Wal-mart), is awarded every year by the ELCA's office for disability ministry, part of the Vocation and Education Program Unit of the ELCA. Meet the 2008 ELCA Accessibility Award recipients.

Application Criteria
How are entries judged? If you are considering applying for the Accessibility Award, you might find this list of criteria helpful. A winner will be selected on three criteria:

  • The physical accessibility of the church building.
  • Outreach into the community to people who have disabilities.
  • Inclusion of people with disabilities in the worship and daily life of the congregation.

Applications for the 2008 Accessibility Award are no longer being accepted; the deadline was May 31, 2008. To be considered for next year's award, please revisit this site for the 2009 application.
