Founded in 1874, St. Olaf College is a residential liberal arts just south of the Twin Cities in Northfield, Minn. The ST. OLAF COLLEGE: Ideals to Actioncollege is recognized as one of the nation’s best values in higher education, providing a faith-based atmosphere that emphasizes growth in mind, body and spirit. St. Olaf’s strong Lutheran heritage helps it lead the nation in the number of graduates who have earned a Ph.D. in theology, while its rigorous academic programs earn similar honors in mathematics and the natural sciences.
St. Olaf’s student body of nearly 3000 enrolls students from nearly every state and more than 20 foreign countries. Committed to a global perspective, more than two-thirds of the student body will have studied internationally by the time they graduate. “Oles” participate in 44 academic major and 27 intercollegiate sports. St. Olaf’s world-renowned music ensembles include the St. Olaf Choir, Band and Orchestra, and each year more than 800 students participate in the St. Olaf Christmas Festival, a worship service of hymns, carols, and choral and orchestral works celebrating the birth of Christ.
Known for its beautiful 345-acre campus, the college rests on a hill with adjacent woodlands, prairies, wetlands and farmlands. It is a setting conducive to reflection, writing, and simple appreciation of the campus’ natural beauty.
