Mission Interpretation

Where is God at work in your life? How about in your community? How about beyond your community? Mission Interpretation is telling the story of how God is changing lives through our giving. Here are resources and stories about God’s work.

Stories of Faith in Action 2008 (formerly "Making Christ Known") Stories of Faith in Action 2008 is a print resource that explains who we are as the ELCA, what we do in ministry together, and how we fund it. The format is new in 2008 (magazine size rather than tabloid) and it has been completely redesigned with shorter stories about the ELCA ministries that are made possible through mission support given to this church.

A Time & Talent sheet from Salt for All Seasons.

“A Community of Servants who follow Jesus’ example by living lives of service to others.”

How is God calling you to serve both inside the congregation and outside of the congregation? How is God calling you to use your gifts to serve others? As one body with many members, God has given each of us different gifts and talents in order to complete the ministry we are called to do. Each of us is needed. Download this PDF  for a brief description of the ministry opportunities available.

Mission Support:
Where Your Money Goes
Available on DVD September 1, 2006
(26 minutes)

Generosity is an important part of being Christian. The money, time, talent and energy we give back to God through our offerings are used in a variety of important ways.

In this video hosted by The Rev. Dr. Marion Wyvetta Bullock, Executive for Leadership Development in the ELCA's Office of the Presiding Bishop, we ask three questions: Why do we give? What do we give? And, how is our money spent?

We also visit St. Paul Lutheran Church on the Island of Puerto Rico. This small congregation is making a big impact in their community and around the world through cheerful giving. Use this new resource as a great way to support stewardship initiatives in your congregation

Order a copy of the DVD or view it on-line.
