Driving Directions

 
Directions from the West, North, South or East, or Downtown Chicago. Please verify directions and traffic and construction conditions before deciding upon a route.


From the West

  • Take I-90 (Jane Addams Memorial Tollway) east to Chicago (I-90 turns into the Kennedy Expressway past I-294).
  • Exit Cumberland North (this exit is just beyond a toll plaza and before another two lanes merge into the Kennedy from the right).
  • Turn right (north) onto Cumberland Avenue from the ramp.
  • Turn left (west) at the first light onto Higgins Road (72).
  • Just past the next light, turn left into the circular drive for O'Hare Plaza; the Lutheran Center will be immediately to your right.
  • Continue around the drive and park in the free parking garage in any of the assigned guest spaces on the first floor. If these spaces are occupied, the ELCA has many unused spaces on the sixth level. An elevator is available.
  • Access to the Lutheran Center during business hours is either through the front door, across the courtyard, or through the walkway across from the parking garage elevators.
  • Visitors must check in at either guard station to obtain a visitor badge.
From the North
  • Take I-94 (Edens Expressway) to I-294 South (Tri-State Tollway).
  • Exit I-90 East (Kennedy Expressway) to Chicago.
  • Exit Cumberland North (this exit is just beyond a toll plaza and before another two lanes merge into the Kennedy from the right).
  • Turn right (north) onto Cumberland Avenue from the ramp.
  • Turn left (west) at the first light onto Higgins Road (72).
  • Just past the next light, turn left into the circular drive for O'Hare Plaza; the Lutheran Center will be immediately to your right.

Take I-80/I-94 North (Bishop Ford Expressway) to I-90/I-94 North (Dan Ryan Expressway).

  • If you want to go around the city:

    • Turn right (north) onto Cumberland Avenue from the ramp.

    • Take I-90 West (Kennedy Expressway) towards O'Hare.
    • Exit Cumberland North.
    • Turn left (north) onto Cumberland Avenue from the ramp.
    • Turn left (west) at the first light onto Higgins Road (72).
    • Just past the next light, turn left into the circular drive for O'Hare Plaza; the Lutheran Center will be immediately to your right.
